Jidong Wu graduated from Nanjing Medical School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in 1979, and practised Chinese medicine in a general hospital for four years. In 1986, Dr Wu completed his master's degree in medicine from Shanghai University of TCM. He then worked as a lecturer and consultant at Nanjing University of TCM. He was appointed as associated professor there in 1992.

Dong-Ni was born in a Chinese medical practice family. Her father was a reputable Chinese medical doctor in Guangdong China who setting up a private practice, Jinan Clinic, in 1980s. Dong-Ni was embedded in this Chinese medical environment and helped her father in running this practice since then. Dong-Ni was graduated from Foshan University, History Department in 1990 and qualified as a teacher. She then worked as a school teacher for 5 year. However, Dong-Ni found her interests are higher in the practice of Chinese medicine. She then joint Guangzhou University of TCM and gained a formal training in TCM for 4 year and qualified ad a TCM practitioner, worked in her father’s clinic for 5 years.
