Dr.Eithne Brenner

MB, BCh, BAO, MICGP, MRCGP, DCH, DRCOG, DFFP, GCM.

Dr. Eithne Brenner is the Medical Director and owner of The Brenner Clinic. She is originally from Waterford City and obtained her Medical Degree, with Honours in Psychiatry, at U.C.C in 1989. She interned at Cork University Hospital, and then completed four years Specialist Family Medicine Training on the Cleveland Rotation. She then spent 10 years as a busy GP principal in a London city practice, prior to her return home to establish The Brenner Clinic in 2007.She is on the Specialist Register at The Irish Medical Council.

Dr.Brenner has a keen interest in Health Screening and Cardiac Sports Screening. The Brenner Clinic works with the GAA and the FAI to screen players. Dr.Brenner has additional qualificationsin Resuscitation (Heartsaver AED-Irish Heart Foundation). She is Medical Director of the AED Defibrillator Programme at NAS (Nursing & Allied Services) in Waterford, which promotes defibrillator training and placement in the community.

 Dr. Brenner is the Medical Director and owner of Faceworks, an innovative aesthetic clinic, offering non-surgical cosmetic and dermatological treatments. Faceworks is located in the same building as The Brenner Clinic.

Dr. Brenner is Club Doctor for Waterford United Football Club. She is involved in cardiac and medical screening of players, and provides medical cover at matches.

Dr.Brenner has been involved as a volunteer GP at the SATU (Sexual Assault and Treatment Unit) at Waterford Regional Hospital since 2005. She provides 24 Hours of cover per week. She is currently undertaking a graduate course in Forensic Medicine at UCD, leading to a Masters Degree in Forensic Medicine.

Dr. Brenner discusses health topics on the second and fourth Mondays of each month with Billy McCarthy on Deise Am, on WLR-FM radio.

She writes weekly on health issues for The News & Star newspaper in Waterford city, and monthly for SE Business Magazine. She is a contributor to SE Weddings Magazine, and other health publications.

The Brenner Clinic provides GP Services to Squashy Couch, a HSE-funded Teenage Health Service at 32 Parnell Street in Waterford City. This service provides free, accessible advice, support and healthcare to 14-19 year olds.

Dr Marina Vasileva MD (Zaporozhye, Ukraine), MRCPI, DPDerm. (Cardiff), DME,DCH,CFP

Dr Marina Vasileva is originally Russian and has completed her medical training in Ireland. Having combined her natural understanding and knowledge of Russian and Eastern European culture with several years of living and practising in Ireland, she has become very well integrated into the increasingly diverse Irish life.

Dr Vasileva got her primary medical qualification with honours from Zaporozhye State Medical University (Ukraine) and was awarded MD after completing her postgraduate studies in Pathology in 1997. Her extensive practical medical training has taken place in Ireland through the variety of rotational hospital jobs – Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Paediatrics. Since 2007 she has been working in several GP centres in the South East.

Dr Vasileva holds Diplomas in Medicine for the Elderly, Child Health and a certificate in Child Planning. She has been trained as ATLS and ACLS Provider. She has recently completed her Dermatology studies in Cardiff University School of Medicine. Dr Vasileva has a special interest in medical Dermatology and is keenly working on advancing her skills in minor surgery and aesthetic medicine. She is delighted to be joining the Brenner Clinic. Dr Vasileva is an active member of the local clubs and enjoys playing tennis and swimming.

Dr.Pat Breen

MB, BCh, BAO, DCH, MICGP, CFP

Dr. Pat Breen hails from Limerick. He graduated from UCD School of Medicine in 2002. He completed post-graduate training in General Practice in the southeast of Ireland, and is delighted to be working full-time at The Brenner clinic. He holds a diploma in childcare and a certificate in family planning.He has worked in several surgeries in Ireland and in Australia.He is a keen sportsman, and has an interest in screening of sports players, in support of GAA and FAI initiatives to aim to reduce sudden cardiac death.

Nurse Darina Lane

RGN. RN. PNC. NP. BSc Hons

Darina is a Nurse Practitioner at the Brenner Clinic. She is a native of Waterford City and is delighted to be working in the area where she was originally brought up. She has over 20 years experience in healthcare and offers a very high level of professionalism and personalised care. Darina holds the senior qualification of Nurse Practitioner. She is a registered midwife, and holds a BSC (Hons.) in Health Studies. She is the only Nurse Practitioner in General Practice in the South East of Ireland.

She is Editor of the National Practice Nursing Magazine, (a post she has held for the past 5 years) and writes regularly for newspapers and magazines. Darina keeps up to date on relevant health issues by attending courses. She has diplomas in Asthma care, and Family Planning,and has certificates in Travel Health and in Diabetic Care. Darina has a particular interest in Antenatal Care, and runs Antenatal Classes at The Brenner Clinic. Darina is always available to discuss any health issues during surgery hours.

Helen Barry

Practice Manager

As practice manager Helen oversees the business side of the clinic. Equipped with excellent organisational skills, the ability to manage and lead a team, her accuracy and attention to detail ensures the smooth running of the practice. Together with her ability to highly motivate the team and herself, progress in quality and standards is always at the forefront of her strategies for The Brenner Clinic. Helen has extensive experience in General Practice. She has worked in various management roles, and holds a diploma in Managing Human Resources. She also completed "The Managing People Programme" at the Facility of Business DIT- June 2006.

Rosemary Murphy

Receptionist

Rosemary has been with the Brenner Clinic since its inception. In her past working experience Rosemary spent some years as a hairdresser, and NTL Customer Services and Sales Representative. She also spent time working as a hairdresser on a cruise ship and has gained a wealth of experience dealing with people from all corners of the world. In support of the Brenner Clinic Team she holds a First Aid certificate and excellent computer skills. Rosemary is a real peoples person- approachable, helpful, and most of all calm, matching the Brenner Clinic atmosphere.

Rosina Lauri

Receptionist

Rosina has just recently joined The Brenner Clinic. She worked in the City of London for many years as a PA. In 1994 she returned to Ireland and worked as a Dental Nurse where she progressed to Dental Practice Manager. She is very excited about having joined The Brenner Clinic and is looking forward to being part of the team.

Sarah Jackman

Receptionist

Sarah is the newest member of the Brenner Clinic team. She provides admin support, and is helpful, friendly, and has excellent IT skills. Sarah is also qualified as a beautician, and is very knowledgeable on all Aesthetic treatments offered at the clinic.

Michael Fouhy

Prosthetics & Orthotics:

Michael Fouhy runs the SOTA Clinic at The Brenner Clinic. He has a degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. He continued his studies at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and spent several years practicing with the Hanger Orthopaedic Group in the United States. Recently Michael was awarded an MBA at Trinity College, Dublin. His clinical specialties include geriatric prosthetics and paediatric orthotics. Michael is bringing Waterford to the cutting edge in technology and treatment methodologies to benefit both prosthetic and orthotic patients. The services are provided in our brand new state of the art premises at The Brenner Clinic. Michael also operates a clinic in Cork City. A community based programme is available in Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Healthcare Facilities throughout the South of Ireland. Services are approved by VHI, Hibernia, & Quinn Healthcare

Paul Harrington

Physical Therapy:

Paul is a member of the Irish Association of Physical Therapy. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions and sports injuries. He works closely with the GAA, maximising teams performance and fitness. Pauls work is covered by VHI, Hibernia, & Quinn Healthcare.

Dave Hackett

Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine:

Dave is registered with the Acupuncture Council of Ireland, and practices Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Brenner Clinic. His work is approved by VHI, Hibernian & Quinn Healthcare. Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture is based on a holistic approach to health based on over 2000 years of practice in the Far East. The tradition is as much about the maintenance of health as the management of disease.
