Dr Oliver Harman BDS LDS RCS

Biography
Oliver qualified from the Royal Dental Hospital, London in 1983. He has extensive experience in all aspects of general practice, and owned a successful private practice in Chesham Buckinghamshire until 2000, when he moved to join Dentics. In the 80's he worked and studied with John Hubbard, one of this country's finest ceramists. His work can be regularly seen on Living TV’s Extreme Makeover UK programme. He lectures internationally on cosmetic dentistry, and also works with the renowned Schottlander Ceramics Company. He is also member of the Oasis Healthcare PLC Clinical Board. Oliver is a member of both the American and the British academy of cosmetic dentistry. He is also a member of the ADI (Association of Dental Implantology UK). He is a holder of the prestigious Denplan Excel accreditation award. Oliver has a rare passion for aesthetic dentistry, and loves the artistry and challenge of creating beautiful natural smiles. His interests outside dentistry are spending time with his two girls, house renovation, cooking, music, and sports.

Dr Michael Mew BDS (Lond) D.Orth (Denmark)

Michael qualified at the Royal London Hospital in 1993. In 1995 Michael travelled to South Africa where he taught dentistry at the University of the Witwaterstrand Michael then returned to the U.K. where he gained a year of maxillofacial surgical experience at the Eastbourne and Brighton Hospital. Michael is a third generation orthodontist whose father developed the Orthotropic System for guiding the growth of children’s faces. In 2000 Michael attended an intensive Orthodontic Specialisation Program in Aarhus Denmark. Competing with the cream European dental graduates for what is regarded as possibly the best course for adult orthodontics in the world. Since returning to the UK Michael has joined City Dentics where he provides advanced adult orthodontic treatments. Michael compliments the Dentics approach to aesthetic excellence by introducing the most up to date orthodontic treatments. This includes Invisalign and Invisible Brace systems. Michael draws his inspiration from the visual impact that his treatments have on creating a whole new smile.

Dr Shirin Ali

Shirin Ali BDS qualified at Edinburgh University in 1990. She has worked extensively in both the NHS and private sectors and because of her past previous experience in sedation techniques she has built up a good rapport with nervous clients. Shirin was always interested in cosmetic dentistry so when offered the opportunity to practice at Dentics, she happily accepted and joined the team in the year 2000. Shirin is one of those rare dentists who have experienced cosmetic dentistry from both angles and she feels this gives her an edge relating to and treating clients. Shirin has improved the smiles of many stars in the media and TV but her greatest delight is in providing that secret ingredient which transforms the smile of the blushing bride as she walks down the aisle. She loves fashion and travels extensively when time allows. Shirin is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr Jonathan Wu BDS (Lond)

Biography
Jonathan graduated at University College London in 1988. He worked in a private practice in north London for 12 years prior to joining Dentics in 2000. Even when he was in general practice he had always paid a special interest in cosmetic dentistry. He found it the most satisfying experience when his clients walked out of Dentics with a new natural smile, which was subsequently complimented on by their relatives and friends. Although he had treated various TV personnel including news presenters and actors, Jonathan finds it more interesting to see clients from all walks of life. Since he qualified he has attended numerous postgraduate courses in this field, including Dr.Paul Tipton’s restorative dentistry course in Manchester. He is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and he attends their annual conference in the US regularly. Outside work he enjoys, all the cultural pursuits, sport, and he also plays two musical instruments.

Maria Retzepi DDS MSc Certclinspec (Perio)

Maria received her Diploma in Dental Surgery and Master’s of Science degree in Oral Biology from the University of Athens. She then attended a three-year full-time training programme leading to Postgraduate Certificate of Clinical Specialisation in Periodontology. Since June 2003 she has been working in the world-renowned Eastman Dental Institute, London, as research fellow and clinical instructor. Maria is working closely with the Dentics’ dentists team since April 2004, performing the following procedures aimed to establish a healthy and attractive smile: 1) Diagnosis, and control of periodontal (gum) diseases, as healthy gums constitute the foundation for any aesthetic smile makeover. 2) Dental implants placement 3) Cosmetic enhancement via plastic surgery performed to correct “gummy” smile, uneven gum line or gum recessions.
