James O. Perry, the founder of International Medical
Resources, has practiced medicine and surgery as a Physician Associate
for over 25 years. James first traveled to Thailand in 2004, two weeks
after the Tsunami. He was enchanted with Thailand and very impressed
with the world class health care in some of it's hospitals. James
immediately began
to ponder, "How can I be actively involved in the
practice of medicine and surgery in Thailand?" and "How can I make
Thailand's health care offerings available to my patients in the United
States?" In reflecting on two of his great
passions in life, healthcare practice, and business development, James
came up with an idea.
During his first trip to Thailand he called, faxed of e-mailed
almost every mayor hospital in Bangkok. James toured several of the
large private hospitals and was amazed at what he saw: hospitals that
were state of the art top to bottom; clean, bright, and well staffed by
very helpful Thai's who never stopped smiling. Hospitals using cutting
edge technology to treat patients from around the world. These private
hospitals were all seeking international patients but not one had an
American or US agent. Believing this to be his opening, James worked
vigorously to establish a contract or a position that
would allow him to offer those in the United States easy access to
Thailand’s exceptional private health care.
When James returned to the US he had in hand an established
agreement to act as an agent for the largest hospital network in
Thailand: Bangkok International Hospital. Bangkok International
Hospital then invited James and his new company to co-market in the US
at the Los Angeles Thailand Export Commission Exposition.
