Mexican Dentistry
Dentists in Mexico can equal the best available across the world. The Asociación Dental Mexicana has over 50 years experience regulating its members and encourages continuing education and high ethical standards. Many Mexican dentists will also belong to the American Dental Association, benefiting from its training programs and keeping up to date with the latest in dental technologies.
Our three most popular dental clinics are:
Benefits of Travelling to Mexico
Perhaps the most obvious benefits of Mexico as a dental destination for Americans is its proximity and its low costs. A short car journey can put Califorians in the middle of one of the highest densities of dental clinics in the world.
Too much choice can be confusing, and with irregular federal oversight you need to know what to look for. Good dentists regularly attend courses to update their skills. Joining dental associations, whether Mexican or American is a good indication that a dentist is dedicated to their continuing professional development. Check the staff sections of clinics to see the academic work and practical training the dentists have completed.
Lower labour costs and cheaper office space allow Mexico's dentists to offer comparable treatments to their U.S neighbours at a very competitive cost. Our most popular destination in Mexico is currently Tijuana

Dentists in Mexico - Qualifications
Dental training and certification in Mexico is very similar to the United States. Study takes five years: four years of dental school followed by a one year internship and the passing of a professional exam.
Though there is no mandatory continuing education, many Mexican dentists avail of training courses run locally, in the U.S or Europe. There are 50 dental schools, regulated by the federal government.
There are 9 recognized dental specialties in Mexico including Endodontics, Periodontics and Orthodontics.
Dentists in Mexico - Additional Information
Organizations
All dentists must posses a certificate of graduation from a licenced educational institution. The title of dentist is confered at a federal level allowing free movement of dentists through the country.
The Asociación Dental Mexicana was established in 1942. The Consejo de Certificación de la Asociación Dental Mexicana registers Mexican dentists and the Asociación is more broadly responsible for the ethical and educational development of dentistry in Mexico. Certification with the ADM is not manditory.
Dental Ethics
Members of the ADM are bound by its code of ethics that stipulates the duties of dental surgeons. In common with the U.S and E.U these clarify the duty of a dentist to do no harm, look after the ongoing health of the patient, guard the confidentiality of client information and pass that information on to another dentist at the request of the patient.
Complaints
Ethical and procedural complaints can be passed to the ADM if the performing dentist is a member. Recourse through the courts is difficult and time consuming.
Continuing education
The ADM believes in the principle of continuous education for dentists. There is a process of recertification every 5 years which involves an examination of dental skills: all ADM members should have a copy of their certification valid for the current period.
Data Protection
There is data protection legislation in place in Mexico with specific categories for medical records. The ethical responsibilities of dental surgeons for the management of records include additional duties (see the dental ethics section above).

Reviews: BB Cracow Group - Poland
I was pleased with the treatment, also the clinic was top of the range, the only thing was the accommodation was a bit below par, this could be due to the renovations taking place but the location of the apartment was very good.

A inlay is used when a filling needs to be replaced, but when the old filling is removed, there is not enough tooth structure left to support a filling. An inlay is then placed in the area where the old filling was, and is a much better and longer lasting solution than a large filling. An onlay is done for the same reason, but is used when the side of the tooth is removed, and is sometimes called a partial crown.

Veneers are a very thin material that is bonded to a tooth surface, to give a more appealing look to the tooth. They are used to cosmetically correct a tooth, or in some cases, to fill a gap in your smile. They can make a discolored, stained tooth look very bright and white.
Since veneers are quite fragile, there is a posibility of them chipping or breaking if you bite down on something hard, like a popcorn kernel, or if you grind your teeth at night. If you have a hard bite, or grind your teeth, then a crown may be a better and longer lasting option than veneers.

Were you pleased with the treatment?
I must say this center looked excellent from the get go.... but the dentist I had, was not very good. I had problems with the basic prep work for my procedures (reviewed by two other locally recommended dentists- who confirmed there were serious problems with the work) . Unfortunately I had paid up front. The owner did offer to refund me some of the money, over $2,000. It has never come. The clinic has since been through at least two other dentists. --One I believe left due to the same failure to pay bills by the MDV owner. Please do some google-ing on the owner before you choose this clinic. Many Mexican Dentists are excellent. If you are choosing this office because it is American/Canadian owned and operated.... Let me just say the guys are not so honest, and although they talk a good talk and look good - I found others much more qualified, respected and honest dentists and specialist in the Mazatlan area.
Would you recommend the clinic?
No. There is a lot of trust you have to put in dealing with any dentist.... but the owner of this place is just plain bad. As mentioned, it is the owner of the clinic... probably not the current dentist, however he lied to me several times, and although you may receive ok treatment.... I would sure check in with one of the qualified specialists in the area. Also, although this was a while back, the owner does NOT live in Mazatlan. When I last checked, he was in Oregon -
Would you return for further treatment?
Not a happy customer obviously.... I wanted to be- and paid over $4000 with Mexican Dental Vacation, but when there was a problem and the owner said he would refund at least part of the money.... then decided to just stop answering my call, well that pretty much says it all. (I still keep the voice mail where the receptionist says " The refund check is in the mail to you" Ha. You can problems with any service, but how an office or owner chooses to deal with the problems says much.

Were you pleased with the treatment?
I requested info from Mexican Dental Vacation in August or September of this year regarding dental implants and/or dentures. I am hoping to have these procedures done after the new year. Dr. Mackey's office contacted me promptly and his assistant, Alisa, was SO helpful and encouraging. After we discussed what procedures I was considering, she informed Dr. Mackey, who called me himself! I was very impressed and reassured after speaking with both him and Alisa, and am very anxious to get started. Alisa even emailed me a list of reasonably priced hotels near the dental office that she recommended and also explained everything in regard to travel from the airport, things to do while there, just everything! It was so nice, because I have never been to Mexico, (or outside the U.S. at all, for that matter) and the thought was a little intimidating at first. Dr. Mackey answered all my questions patiently-and I had lots! He explained his credentials, how I could verify them, projected treatment costs, anticipated number of total visits that would be required, recovery time and even gave me suggestions on procedures I could have done here first for a reasonable cost in order to make the whole process easier for me. I hope to visit Dr. Mackey in February or March and will be happy to give additional feedback afterwards. Thank you, RevaHealth, for giving me hope and optimism again-I was so very depressed because of the condition of my teeth and even with insurance, I could see no hope of ever being able to afford the work I need. I can't tell you how psychologically devastating it is to not be able to smile, to feel embarrassed and ashamed of how you look and feeling like people are looking down on you because of the poor condition of your teeth. Now I have hope again-THANK YOU!
