Bridges are a type of restoration that is done when one or more permanent teeth are lost or pulled. The resulting gap must be filled in to prevent the remaining teeth from shifting. If the other teeth shift, they will affect the patient's bite (occlusion), which sometimes produces pain in the jaw joint. As the teeth move and become crooked, they also become more difficult to keep clean. The risk of tooth decay and gum disease increases, increasing the likelihood that additional teeth will be lost. A bridge is inserted to prevent this risk. Bridges are nonremovable appliances of one or more artificial teeth (pontics) anchored by crowns on the adjacent teeth (abutment teeth). The abutment teeth carry the pressure when the patient chews food.

Procera (Alumina or zironia) – Procera AllCeram is a brand name for natural looking crown created by covering a alumina or zironia core with ceramic. The crown is created by computer- aided manufacturing rather than the traditional casting process. Studies by Procera have shown a very high success rate over 5 and 10 years. The tooth in question needs to be prepared by stripping off the entire top covering (enamel) of the tooth where the crown is to be fitted. It should be noted that this process is not reversible. Image Dr. Pierantonio Rosi graduated in 1979 with a degree in Medicine and Surgery, he then specialised in Anaesthesia and Reanimation. He has been a dentist since 1982 and is a member of Ricketts Society. Since 1982 he has worked as a private Dentist and has two clinics, one in Desenzano and one in Brescia. He became a Professor at the University of Cagliari in 2000 and has participated as a speaker in a number of International Dentistry Meetings. His main fields are Gnatology, Implantology, Paradontal Surgery and Orthodontistry. Dr. Rosi offers his patients the possibility of operations under a General Anaesthetic as well as Conscious Sedation.
