About Leixlip Dental Center

The Leixlip Dental Center, we pride ourselves on providing a very high standard of dental care to every patient. Our team consists of our Dentists, Nurses, Support Staff and On-Site Laboratory staff. We offer our patients the following services at our surgery; General dentistry, Implantology, Orthodontics, Endodontics, Perio-surgery, Oral Surgery, Sedation and an Occlusion Clinic.

We spend a lot of time with you on your first visit with us when you will be educated on the correct oral hygiene techniques for you and the materials that are best suited to your dentition. Our principal goal for you is to have excellent oral hygiene and caries free teeth. Following this, you will receive a thorough dental examination to identify any current or ongoing issues you may have. It is only at this point that we can devise treatment plans for you. All possibilities are explored and explained to you so you can make an informed decision as to the ‘Best’ course of treatment for your dental health.

Due to the team of dental professionals working in our surgery and the various treatment programs we can offer, we are able to treat the majority of our patients here.

We have qualified and experienced nursing and support staffs that play a valuable part in the overall care you receive from us.

We are delighted to continue supporting dentists that refer patients to us for dental treatment. Often the dentist will accompany their patient to follow their dental treatment and have a full understanding of what treatment is being carried out. We welcome this professional interaction and look forward to developing it further in the future.

Our on-site lab, provides us with an excellent and timely service for our needs and those of our patients. Currently, the lab offers general lab services

In all, we want to offer the best dental care we can to our patients and be sure they go about their daily lives with excellent oral hygiene. Once we have the basics covered, the rest is easy. Our job is to work with you to have you dentally fit.

Dentistry

Air Abrasion € 20 - € 100
Air abrasion is a process where we use a devise to clean the staining from deep fissures. We generally do this prior to sealing the teeth. We would recommend this procedure for all children that start to get their permanent molar and premolar teeth. Adults also benefit from this to maintain healthy teeth. The treatmeis not permanent and may need to be repaced after a couple of years.

Bone Graft Up to € 500
A bone graft is a procedure that is sometime required during an implant placement. Once the treatment is commenced and the surgeon can see the bone ridge that he has to place the implant ni, he may decide that a bone graft is necessary to enhance the primary stability of the implant. A membrane may also be placed to discourage soft tissue encroaching on the graft material before it has had time to integrate with your natural bone. If this grafting is necessary during the placement of an implant, it requires 3 months bone integration/healing time before you can finish the treatment with the implant crown.

Sinus Lift Up to € 500
This procedure is an oral surgery procedure that we carry out in our practice with our Oral Surgeon Mr. Andreas Clemens. There are a couple of reason that a sinus lift would be required and the decision to perform this procedure would be discussed thoroughly with you following an examination and x-rays. This may be a necessary step in placing an implant where there is insufficient bone in the upper jaw and so a sinus lift is required. Following the procedure, you can experience some localised swelling and discomfort for a couple of days. This can easily be controlled with some simple pain medication and an ice-pack.

Braces € 500 - € 4500
Guaranteed for 5 years.Orthodontic Treatment is carried out when the dentition of a patient is misaligned and requires correction. There are several options with orthodontics and each case is individual. There is usually 2-3 visits for consultation process, where study models and x-rays ar taken so the orthodontist can present a treatment plan to you. The duration of the treatment and the cost is aslo dependant on the treatment that is decided on.

Bridges Typically € 1600
Conventional bridge work starts at €800 per unit. This is when a healthy tooth is prepared for a crown. Impressions are taken and sent to our laboratory where your Zirconia bridge is made. Depending on the number of units involved in the bridge is dependant on the final price of the work.

Cosmetic Dentist Consultation Up to € 40

Crown € 700 - € 800
Our crowns are made of Zirconia and are made by master technicians in Germany. The treatment involves an initial consultation to determine the course of treatment and to ensure that the oral hygiene is good. A peparation appointment is arranged where the tooth/teeth are prepared and impressions are taken and sent to the laboratory. Together we decide on the shade of the crown(s). You are fitted with temporary crowns for a period of two weeks.Following the two week period your new crowns are fitted.

Dental Checkup Typically € 40
A dentist will examine your mouth both intraorally and extraorally for healthy tissue and dentition. If x-rays are required there will be a small additional fee required. Where patients require a large x-ray (Orthopantomograph - OPG), we also have the facilities on-site to carry this out. Our systems are fuly digital so the images are instant. Any issues the dentist notices during the examination, will be pointed out to you and your dental concerns will be addressed. Solutions for all issues will be proposed to you and a treatment plan created to outline the treatment, time, option and cost involved. The final decision on what treatment is carried out lies with yu, the patient. We respect that it is your mouth and teeth and our responsibility and obligation is to inform you of all the options open to you, help you understand them and advise when necessary. Our main goal is to have each patient with a healthy mouth, an ability to clean everything well and be educated in how to maintain this and what is availably for them.

Dental Implants € 2000 - € 2250
An implant can be placed to replace a missing tooth, provided there is sufficient space left to do so. The implant also needs healthy bone for it to be placed in. A large x-ray would be taken at the clinic to determine the suitability of each patient for implants. After the initial consultation, we schedule the placement appointment. This appointment is normally 1 hour depending on the number of implants being placed. After a period of 6-8 weeks, you return for impressions to be taken. 2 weeks later we will be fitting your implant crowns and restoring your dentition to a better function. For most patients, implants are an excellent option to replace missing teeth or to replace a denture, be it a partial or full denture. If you have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis by your doctor and are due to commence a treatment of drugs eg. BiPhosphonates - please ask your doctor if you can postpone this treatment until you have had a dental check-up to determine that you do not require implants. This also applies to implants anywhere in the body ie. hip replacements. The research to date shows that these type of drugs affect the healing quality in the bone and so the implants may fail.

Dental Sealant Typically € 100
The sealing of the deep fissures in molar and premolar teeth is recommended in both children and adults as a preventative measure against tooth decay. This treatment is carried out in one visit. The teeth are treated with an air abraision device and then sealed. There is no anaesthetic required and you will leave with the confidence that your teeth are protected. This treatment may need to be repeated over time if for example, you grind your teeth, then the sealant may also be ground away. This will be noted on your regular check-up visits.

Dental X-Ray € 10 - € 30
Our systems are fully digital which allows us view the images immediately and in great detail. We have the facility to take intraoral x-rays and OPG (Orthopantomograph) - A large x-ray of all your teeth, jaws, joints and sinus areas.

Digital Dental X-Ray

Panoramic Dental X-Ray

Dentist Consultation Up to € 40

Dentures € 750 - € 1365
Dentures in this case are conventional acrylic dentures. There are a few different options open to patients requiring dentures, but this covers patients deciding on acrylic upper/lower or both dentures. There are several visits required to provide you with the optimum solution for you. The steps necessary to provide you with your dentures would be fully explained to you and the final cost involved.

Denturist Consultation Up to € 40

Endodontist Consultation Up to € 40
Root canal can be required when the nerve of the tooth has been irreversibly damaged and needs to be removed. The nerve can be damaged from a trauma or decay for example. The consultation for this treatment would involve a dental examination, vitality tests on the tooth and x-rays to determine exactly what has happened. An appointment to begin the root canal treatment can be made afterwards.

Extractions € 80 - € 200
An extraction is where a tooth has been deemed unsalvagable, ie. there is no treatment availabe to save the tooth. This would be dependant on the condition the tooth presents itself as on the initial examination. All options would be explored and explained to you prior t making a final decision. Also patients are required to extract teeth as part of orthodontic treatment and this is on request from their orthodontist.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction € 150 - € 300
Wisdom teeth can be extracted under local anaesthetic by our oral surgeon. In some cases patients feel nervous about getting teeth extracted and prefer to have either oral or intravenous sedation during the procedure. We would first need to examine each patient and take a large x-ray (Orthopantomograph - OPG). This can be carried out on site with our digital x-ray machine and the images are instant. We can schedule the appointment with the surgeon and arrange sedation if required. You are reviewed the following day and again in 10 days if there are sutures to remove.

Family Dentist Consultation Up to € 40

Fillings € 80 - € 120
Teeth are treated with fillings to replace caries or broken parts of teeth. Depending on the tooth and size of filling required, either a silver (amalgam) or a white (composite) filling will be used. The dentist will discuss the reasons for deciding on the filling type with you before starting the treatment.

Gingivitis Treatment

Gnathological Treatment
Gnathological treatment is a treatment that requires the imput of both the dentist that identified the issue and the oral surgeon that is required to treat the issue. X-rays and study models are required to assess the issue and possible outcome. The reason you present to us and the treatment required is very individual and would require an initial consultation.

Gum Surgery
Gum Treatment can involve anything from root plaining to extensive gum surgery. The nature of the treatment would be determine after a full intraoral examination and x-rays have been taken. The treatment plan and the relevant costings would be thoroughly explained to you.

Implants Dentist Consultation Up to € 60

Inlay or Onlay Up to € 500
An Inlay or Onlay are a step between a filling and a crown. They are used where the cavity in the tooth is large and the occlusion would be better suited to either a gold or zirconia inlay/onlay. It is not a full crown but replaces part of a tooth. There is a visit to prepare the cavity, impressions are taken to sent to the lab and 2 weeks later they are fitted.

Mouth Guard Up to € 80

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Consultation Typically € 60

Orthodontist Consultation Up to € 60

Paediatric Dentist Consultation

Periodontist Consultation Typically € 60

Periodontitis Treatment

Restorative Dentist Consultation € 40 - € 60

Root Canals € 400 - € 600
A root canal treatment is necessary when the nerve in the tooth has died or is in the process of dying. The tooth may or may not be painful. There can be localised swelling around the tooth in question. An x-ray and vitality test would be carried out to determine for certain that the tooth requires a root canal treatment. Ideally the treatment would be carried out in one visit, but sometimes it takes 2 - 3 visits. Following a root canal on a tooth, it would be recommended to crown the tooth, as it becomes brittle when there is no longer a blood supply to the tooth. In sever cases it may be necessary to prescribe antibiotics to control the infected area. This again would be determined after the initial examination.

Teeth Cleaning Typically € 40
A cleeaning or a Scale & Polish, is covered every 6 months on your PPS (if you are qualified). Otherwise, you are paying privately for the treatment. You will receive full instructions on the best cleaning method for your teeth and shown the correct way to use the materilas that you require. These materials are also available at the surgery for you to purchase. If you require more frequent cleanings than a 6 monthly visit and you are covered under your PPS, you will still be covered free every 6 months and the visit in between will be costed as a private visit.

Scaling and Root Planing € 75 - € 300
Root Scaling is a treatment carried out where there is a degree of gum disease and the plaque or tartar is under the gumline, attached to the surface of the root. This needs to be removed to enable your mouth to return to good health. Gum disease left untreated results in bone loss, bleeding gums, bad breath and ultimately loss of teeth. It is for this reason that we place such a high importance on oral hygiene instruction with every patient on their first visit. If this aspect of your dental care is not good, then subsequent treatment is a waste of time as you will most likely loose the teeth due to gum disease.

Ultrasonic Scaling Up to € 60

Teeth Whitening Typically € 250
Tooth whitening is carried out under the supervision of one of our dentists. You are supplied with custom made whitening trays, that fit only your teeth, your whitening material and additional conditioning materials to use during your whitening phase. You are reviewed after a short period of time to assess the treatment and monitor the condition of your teeth. This review visit is included in the treatment price.

TMJ - Temporomandibular Joint Treatment Up to € 600
TMJ problems can occur from several contributing factors. a thorough examination would be required to determine the cause and the possible treatment. An issue with TMJ is not something that should be ignored or treated as unimportant. The problem can remain at the same level of discomfort or disfunction or can in many cases progress over time, worsening the joint and its components.

Veneers Up to € 400
Veneers are a course of treatment decided to cosmetically enhance the appearance of teeth. It is normally a treatment that is used on the front teeth where there is not a heavy occlusal force. If you are grinding your teeth, then veneers may not be the best solution for you. The treatment involves preparing the surface of the tooth, taking impressions for the laboratory and 2 weeks later fitting them for you.
