Organizations
The Hungarian Medical Chamber which is made up of dentists and physicians is the central organization to which all Hungarian dentist's must belong (currently about 5000 dentists in practice). The chamber supervises its members deciding on suitability to practice and proper ethical conduct.
Dental Ethics
The Medical Chamber's ethical standards are enforced upon its members. Ethical committees meet at both local and national level: the make up of these committees is dependent on the nature of the breach of practice being investigated. The Council of European Dentists' code of ethics also applies to Hungarian dentists.
Complaints
Ethical complaints are dealt with by the Medical Chamber. All other complaints will typically be sent first to the provider of the treatment, if resolution of the problem fails then a complaint may be addressed to the National Public Health & Medical Officers Service. Finally, complaints may be addressed through the common courts.
Continuing education
Hungary has a system of mandatory continuing education. The system allows dentists to aggregate points from a number of training courses over a 5 year period up to the full requirement of 250 points. In practice this represents around 250 hours of additional training for dentists in each 5 year period.
Data Protection
Hungary complies with EU regulations on data protection. Adherence is monitored by an independent ombudsman in accordance with The Health Data Processing Act of 1997. This act guarantees an individuals access to their medical records in a timely fashion as well as the protection of data by medical practicioners.

When can dental implants be used?
a) Missing teeth in a row: when one or two teeth are missing in a row of healthy teeth In this case the teeth can be prepared without grinding the neighbouring teeth down, and putting implants in.
b) Missing teeth at the end of the row: when the only option is having a removable denture, the implants provide a more aesthetic solution than replacing teeth.
c) Complete set of teeth missing: you can have implants depending on the bone in your jaw. It is possible to replace a whole set of teeth by implants. There are other solutions, too. For example, having a removable denture placed on two implants which is more comfortable to wear than a unfixed removable prosthesis. It is also possible to combine the removable and fixed denture, too. The method of these teeth replacements are individually planned and prepared for your comfort and requirements.

When do we recommend veneers?
Veneers, porcelain or plastic, are placed over the front teeth to change colour or shape of the teeth. Veneers are ideal for teeth that are too small, too big, or have uneven surfaces. It is very common for people to have imperfect teeth, either oddly shaped teeth, chipped teeth, crooked teeth or an inappropriate sized tooth or teeth that have an odd appearance. Veneers solve such irregularities and create a durable and pleasing smile.
When do we not recommend it?
Veneers are not recommended in such cases when the teeth are extremely damaged and oral hygiene is not properly maintained.

Tooth whitening also known as tooth bleaching is a chemical procedure where the whitening agent penetrates the porosities in the rod-like crystal structure of enamel and oxidises interprismatic stain deposits. It does not damage the enamel and it restores the original colour of the teeth. The discolouring of teeth could be caused by drinking tea, coffee or red wine, eating vegetables and fruit containing colouring, effects of medicine, or the change of teeth structure as people get older.
We must emphasise that tooth whitening can only be done on natural teeth after careful dental consideration. After the treatment the teeth appear 6-9 shades lighter. We can decide which method of tooth bleaching is most effective for you by examing the state of your teeth
