Biography

Dr. Alejandro Arrona, Board Certifi ed in Cardiology, has been in private practice in the Matamoros area for 18 years. He focuses on consultative cardiology, with an emphasis on coronary artery disease, and uses advanced technology to fi nd and treat heart disease early. Practice interests include preventive cardiology, management of cardiovascular risk factors and application of early diagnostic strategies such as: stress-testing, holter monitor testing, echocardiography and high-resolution electrocardiography. Dr. Arrona attended medical school at the Universidad de Monterrey and completed his residency and subspecialty cardiology training at Centro Medico Nacional del Noreste in Monterrey. He has extensive institutional experience and has a special interest in rehabilitating cardiac patients after they experience a stroke, revascularization, stent or heart surgery. Dr. Arrona has added qualifi cations in the implantation and management of pacemakers and defi brillators to prevent sudden death. Dr. Arrona is a member of the Asociacion Nacional de Cardiologia de Mexico, is certifi ed in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is on staff at the Centro Medico Internacional Emergency Department.

Dr Jorge Luis Diaz Diaz

Biography

Dr. Jorge Diaz Moreno has been practicing pediatrics and the sub-specialty of neonatology (care of sick newborns 0-30 days old) in Matamoros for 20 years. He is one of four Board Certifi ed neonatologists in the area and he specializes in treating newborns with respiratory insuffi ciency, cardiopathies, infections, neurological disorders and/or intestinal problems. Dr. Diaz received his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey and completed his residency in pediatrics and sub-specialization in neonatology at Hospital San Jose Tec de Monterrey in Nuevo Leon. Dr. Diaz has extensive training and experience in the neonatal intensive care fi eld and is an expert in the hospital care of premature babies. Last year Dr. Diaz and his neo-natal intensive care team at CMI Hospital were highlighted by a local TV station on their extraordinary care of a 26 week old preemie that weighed 680 grams (1.5 lbs) at birth. He is the current president of the local Colegio de Pediatria de Tamaulipas and is an active member of the Asociacion Tamaulipeca de Neonatologia. Dr. Diaz is certifi ed in PALS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and is on staff at the Centro Medico Internacional Emergency Department.

Dr Ruben Garcia Garcia

Biography

Board Certifi ed in Internal Medicine, Dr. Ruben Garcia has been in private practice in the Matamoros for over 9 years. He completed medical school at the UAT in Matamoros and his residency in Internal Medicine at Hospital Pumarejo. During his residency he completed 2 rotations in cardiology, one at Hospital Universitario in Monterrey and a second at Hospital Juarez in Mexico City. Dr. Garcia treats adult patients with diabetes, hypertension and metabolic syndrome. His primary focus is directing the clinical examinations and tests to make an accurate diagnosis (identifying the cause of the problem) and then discussing the recommended treatment plans at length with his patients. Dr. Garcia performs ambulatory 24 hour holter electrocardiograms to diagnose heart arrythmias and sleep apnea. He also performs pre-surgical work-ups to assess and help manage risks associated with surgery. Dr. Garcia has signifi cant critical care and emergency medicine experience, is ACLS certifi ed (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and is on staff at Centro Medico Internacional Emergency Department.
