Give your eyelids a brighter and livelier look
Upper eyelids may droop and lower lids become baggy leaving a dull, tired look. An eye lift can remove the excess fat and skin from the eyelids giving a brighter look, sometimes even improving vision.
Usually it's performed under a local anaesthetic. Incisions are made along the natural creases of the upper eyelid or beneath the lower lashes, minimising scaring. Skin is lifted from the underlying fat, areas of which are selectively removed together with excess, sagging skin. During the procedure it may also be necessary to support weak surrounding tendons or muscle through suturing.
The procedure is usually completed within 1 to 3 hours.
The head should remain elevated for several days after the operation with swelling being controlled through cold compresses. Bruising should subside after 2 weeks but may last up to a month. Stitches are removed after the first week. Eyes are subject to dryness, blurred vision and irritation. Eye drops may alleviate some of these problems. It may be several months before full normality is restored.
There are few risks associated with this procedure. Blurriness and dryness of the eyes may be temporary side effects but should soon disappear. There is a small chance that too much skin is removed making full closure of the eyes difficult.

Education
Initial medical qualification falls under the remit of the Ministry of Education which regulates the 4 medical schools. Training takes 6 years. Failure to obtain the required numbers of CME points from accredited training programmes will lead to a suspension of the right to practice.
Complaints
The Medical Chamber has extensive powers over physicans and may fine, suspend or remove the right to practice. Patient complaints may be addressed to the chamber. Patients also retain the right to follow civil action through the courts.
